Araluan Botanic Park is open all year, but they put the best show on in spring, when the tulip festival runs for a few weeks.
There is only one road in and out of the area, so the traffic can be a bit tedious, and parking is scarce and may require a bit of a walk, but the experience is well worth the trouble.
The flowers are beautiful! There are masses of colour planted all over the park, and a walk through all the well-laid gardens is an impactful visual experience that will be remembered for a long time. The atmosphere in the park is very mellow, with families and children picnicking on the lawns, and food and coffee vans catering to your gasronomic needs.
It gets crowded, but the park is so big that you can always find somewhere to get away from All The People and it doesn’t feel like there are that many people there. In the southern hemisphere springtime, this is definitely an outing worth doing.
