Yanchep is an easy 45mins drive north of Perth. The Yanchep Lagoon is protected by a reef so that the waves are virtually non-existant and snorkelling is great. We didn’t try the snorkelling but took a walk down the beach on the side of the lagoon, where there were some waves to be had.

Learnings from making this video were much the same as the other Two Rocks videos, since they were shot on the same day:

– Use the microphones that we bought to reduce that nasty wind noise!

– Change the action cam aspect ratio. With views out to sea, the bendy horizon is VERY obvious. We will have to try again with the widescreen aspect ratio and see whether the bendy edges are quite so noticeable.

Extra fun learning was that I accidentally made a setting in the video file before upload to suggest it was a VR file, so it came out EXTRA bendy and was sensitive to device movements for a 3D immersive effect.

This also bent my brain at what I now have to learn, because I would love to do that on purpose with proper footage that looks good like that!

You can see that weird version here, if you are interested. It is not easy to watch, and doesn’t really show the place as we intended, but in the interests of sharing the learnings, there it is…
